Some call it fondue; I call it soup! Chocolate Bourbon Soup is the perfect addition to your Valentine’s Day celebration. Let me be honest I am the person at the fondue place that loses her strawberries and bananas off their stick when dipping them.
After years of lost yumminess, and hunting in the fondue pot. I have just decided to make our lives easier, so my darlings I give you Chocolate Bourbon Soup. ** Warning this recipe has alcohol, so if you are serving it to minors or anyone who is expecting please omit it or ensure the alcohol has burred off in the cooking process.
If you have a fondue pot feel free to use that or even a double boiler. I like to make life easier and microwave it.
Ingredients:
1 Cup Heavy Cream
1 Cup Half and Half
8 Oz Unsweetened Chocolate, broken into pieces
8 Oz semisweet, Dark or Milk Chocolate whatever you prefer, broken into pieces
3 Tablespoons Bourbon
1/4 Teaspoon Cinnamon
For the fun Toppings:
Shredded Coconut
Strawberries
Blackberries
Bananas
Marshmallows
Baileys
Pecans
In a medium pan add the cream, Half and Half, Bourbon, and cinnamon. Bring the mixture to a simmer (this will help burn off the alcohol but leave the flavor of the bourbon).
Add the chocolate and stir with a whisk until the chocolate is smooth and luscious. Remove the mixture from the heat and set aside.
Pour the chocolate into a bowl and serve with your favorite toppings. I’m a huge fan of chocolate with pecans, coconut and bananas YUM! Whatever way you choose to top your Chocolate Bourbon Soup it’s sure to be a hit. Enjoy all my Valentines!
XOXO
