This simple homemade caramel sauce is the perfect holiday gift for all of your ice cream lovers. Only 4 ingredients and 20 mins to the perfect holiday gift. It’s sweet, sticky, buttery, sugary goodness. It also pairs perfectly with our cranberry cake (recipe coming soon). I hope your family enjoys this wonderful no frills sauce as much as we did!
Ingredients:
1 Cup Butter
1 Cup Sugar
1 Cup Brown Sugar
1 Cup Fresh Cream
1/4 Cup Rum, Buttershots, or favorite liquor (if desired)
In a medium sauce pan melt the butter over medium low heat. Once the butter is melted add both sugars and then the cream.
Cook over medium heat for 20 mins stirring to ensure that the caramel sauce doesn’t boil over the edge of the pan.
The caramel sauce is done once it coats the back of a spoon. If desired you can add the liquor if desired once you remove it from the heat. Caution never add the liquor while the caramel is on the burner as it can become flammable. This simple homemade caramel sauce pairs perfectly with our cranberry cake.
